The Myth called ‘Women Empowerment’ !!

Despite being social animals, one thing is certain – Humans are animals. While an animal preys, kills and then savors on its prey to satisfy his hunger, Men have stooped to new low by preying upon biologically weaker section of Human species, generally called Women.

I will try to examine the theory through Social, Political (including Judicial), Economic and Religious framework.

Undoubtedly, Women have been subjugated in Modern Indian society. This subjugation has primarily been to control Feminine sexuality. As the succession laws of Kinship was established in society, the male dominance was inevitable due to a culturally flawed notion that Men bring honor and women bring shame. The notion strengthened with social progress on institutions of Marriage and Family where a women was provided with a status inferior to husband (and at times to son as well – Please exclude the case of Thravad Nairs) and therefore a role of a Home-maker. Women who tried to outlaw the law were ‘punished’, banished, sidelined and even subjected to physical and sexual miseries.

The society, though, began to change as new Indian thinkers took to the helm and the Political backing during British Raj, to some extent, helped curb some major evils against Women subjugation. The concept of westernization was completely ‘Harijan’ concept which lacked the ‘Indian Style and Customs’. The reformers again took the charge after having experienced liberty that western society provided to its members irrespective of gender (although the major force behind westernization of society was capitalism as Capitalism promotes Talent). Western Sciences and Education tried to curb the problem.

Of course, the rise in the number of incidents of violence against women members are on a rise, but what we fail to learn is that the society is in a mode of transition and a climax shall be reached only when things settle out (I too denounce any act of violence against women). Time seems to be the only driving solution for this.

On the Political front, the Legislature fails to make strict laws and then the Executive fails to implement the laws. In the whole tussle, the common man blames Judiciary for all his miseries arguing number of pending cases, pending vacancies in courts and a slow investigation.

The problem with Judiciary is Judicial and the Executive and Legislature just can’t do anything. The Chief Justice of India has the liberty of dividing and opening Branches of Supreme courts in different parts of the country (The initiative shall have to come via CJI – Art. 134). The collegium system has failed as more than 25% of the judicial seats lie vacant.

What the govt. may do is strengthening of the Policing mechanism and Investigative setup. Unfortunately, this shall have to be initiated by the State governments as Law and Order is a List 2 item as per 7th schedule.

On the economic front, Women subjugation begins with her not being part of any economic resource of the family. Sociologists argue that if women members have a say in economic resources of the family, the subjugation is lowered. Many initiatives that would allow for Tax incentives for properties, if brought in the name of women, are missing.

Religion has been a shield against acts done against women. Some communities force women to wear veil, some force them to wear sari. From, the way a woman talks to the way women breathe are all controlled by the Religious tenets. Possibly, this was something that worked in the ancient society but liberation from the shackles is a much needed affair in the modern society.

While everybody among us talk about women empowerment. We provide education, healthcare, Employment to women but the same society fails to learn the secondary aspects of women empowerment as well. Even if jobs are there, sexual harassment exists. Even if Education is there, Toilets in schools are missing. Even if healthcare is available, sensitization and approachable PHCs are missing. Perhaps this is the reason why even if WOMEN EMPOWERMENT is there, WOMEN EMPOWERMENT is missing.

But what do we do. We prefer to make it an issue. After an incident of rape, we would like to condemn the society or take to the streets to give a voice to our anger. What is missing is that the same people fail to learn that incidents of Violence against women take place in the same society they live in and the culprits are from the same society they live in. The society fails to realize that it itself is the culprit. Denying a truth does not make a truth a lie.

The social stigma is so deeply rooted within our society what a woman in a live-in relationship is considered a ‘whore’; a woman with male friends is described having a ‘bad character’ and a woman who works late or possibly during night shifts is a ‘prostitute’.

Although, this is discussed well within the walls of a house, the impact it creates within the minds of me and you reflects on the streets.

We are the solutions to every problem on earth. What our parents said just might not be true and even if they were, they seem to be irrelevant in our times. Further, the problem cannot be solved by men initiating the issue and women taking the secondary positions. It, instead, should be women who must take the charge.

The article began with Humans and Jungles. This reminds me of Darwinism. Women have limited options – either they can remain dictated by the whims and fancies of men or must fight against what they must have (as they say either Prey and be a Prey). That’s the law of the Jungle.

The Blame Game over Indian Economic Crisis

A nation loses its identity as it ushers into an era of chaos, mayhem and disorderliness. India, surprisingly, has gone far in the direction now.

Human beings have from time long tried to organize themselves either as a society or as a collective group to assist each other in the daily affairs of life. The society so created, gave sanctity to many institutions of Family, marriage, kinship etc. and then began the journey of this society towards Political consolidation. The modern day societies erected for themselves Political institutions to govern themselves perhaps in a manner they chose through a legal and infallible means of a Constitution.

A society becomes alive when it becomes livable. It is livable when social norms are followed. Social norms are followed when there are mechanisms of rewards and punishments available. Mechanisms are available when laws are enacted. Laws are enacted when Political institutions exist. Political institutions exist when Society collectively gives them shape.

The conscience of society determines the shape of the institutions. A conscious, though orthodox, society remains concerned about institutions of Marriage and Family (taking reference from the Khaps and their adventures with diktats) and at the same time a society without conscience cannot see its political institutions rotting (taking reference from bad law & order, corruption etc.)

Political Institutions are losing charm because the social consciousness has suddenly vanished. The Political movements and agitations though have risen, are local in character and are directed at certain demands. The mobilizing character of the protests are missing and even if they are, these protests are often ‘guided’ in a given direction by the popular media, who actually shape the demands as per their convenience (e.g. Anna Hazare protest on Jan Lokpal was cleverly directed as a fight against corruption)

The recent UP Rape case has shocked the nation, of course, the mood of the nation does not seem to be as anger-filled as it was in December 2012. The question that comes in is what we have done. It is people among us who debate in the Legislatures. It is people among us who scrutinize the Policies. It is people among us who provide justice in Judiciary. It people among us who represent us.

The Judiciary seems to be a mute spectator while 2 Human lives were lost and Justice seems farce. The Legislatures have turned the matter political when the whole matter is social and institutional. The Executive is busy playing the ‘Blame Game’ on which it has gained expertise over years. Who should we Blame? Whom should the national conscience blame?

Here I am, getting dragged to the ‘blame Game’, myself. The blame is on us. We are the culprits. We, as a society, are responsible for our rotting Institutions.

We have demands but we don’t want to surrender liberties. We have aspirations but we don’t want to lose luxuries. We have goals, but we don’t want to surrender freedom. We are perhaps so deeply drenched in the so called ‘We Pride’ that we are losing the identity of our being us.

Since, the institutions are represented by us, it is we who must change. The Originator of the Institutions (The constitution) is a realization of our collective goals and aspirations. Our personal goals have just blurred our vision of a common social goal. While our religion remains our identity, the religious teachings have lost meanings. While Familial institutions are stronger, the Political institutions weaken.

A society that doesn’t recognize its aspirations and goals, as History tells, has perished. The question on the very existence has now come up. It would only be a matter of time as to how this society shapes its institutions or loses ground to the same winds of time.

When an Institution rots !!

Regulation of Finance – An analysis

The recent furore over rupee touching new heights againt most of the foreign currencies has exposed how vulnerable Indian economy is subject to even the smallest of moves made by the developed world. Just a remark to tapering of Quantitative Easing by the Fed Chief triggered sudden weakening of Rupee in the Currency Markets in India owing to what the Government said ‘Speculation’.

In the meantime, the recent Rupee crisis has only exposed how badly we have regulated our Financial system, especially, the Capital and Money markets which are often considered as the ‘Health of the Economy’ after the GDP indicators. While RBI is supposed to intervene in the maters of currency Regulation but the intervention in itself is subject to situations like Calamity arising out of nowhere.

RBI failed to check the growing concern in the market with regards to Speculation. The investors lost lakhs of crores of rupees because RBI failed to intervene at the very right moment. The rupee fiasco could hae been dealt with easily if the Government and RBI had been motivated.

Steps like Rupee transaction for Iranian imports of oil could have helped India not only in the foreign Excchage front but also would have saved Rupee from getting ‘molested’ in the hands of foreign investors who were too busy pumping out dollars out of the economy amidst fear that QE shall be stopped sooner or later. Government failed to coordinate among the various ministries and thereby take a decision which could have helped an economy which is still undergoing through the Reform process.

RBI on the other hand (pre-4 september) failed to grasp the situation as well. In its July Policy, RBI maintained for the control of inflation making the policy tighter. A liberal policy would have yoelded to lower interest rates considered better for corporate borrowings and might have instead put India to the path of growth. An economy which is growing attracts the foreign investor pretty easily than the one which can only aspire to grow at a faster rate. The incoming investors would not only have brough dollars but would have contained all the moves of the speculators in the currency markets. If the reder feels that such a measure would have totally prevented the rupee fall even after Fed Chief’s remarks, then he/she is mistaken. But, taking these steps right in time would have reduced the massive landslide that was to come.

As of now, the economy seems very much in parts. The government of the day is to procide a solution to 3 basic problems – Containing the CAD, Containing Rupee free fall and Containing Inflation. The economic pundits have termed the combination of these 3 problems as “Economic Trilemma”. They further suggest that solving the 3 problems at once is just next to impossible. You will have to sacrifice something in order to cotain any 2 among them.

As of now, the very problem of stagnating economy and rupee fall seems to be the real problem. India has had situations when inflation rose by more than 13% but the economy sustained even at such levels. If the CAD could not be contained and the Rupee fall could not be contained, we would be inching towards another BOP crisis very soon.

Rsing insurgency and aggression – an Analysis

There is a desperate need to weaken the insurgency operations, the secession activities and the demand for separate states in North Eastern region with visible violent activities and calling of illegal Bandhs.

The reasons at root level lies in the development of the region, which unfortunately is missing. NE has been treated as a step-son of India right since 1947.

China on the other hand has been tightening its grip and stand on Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) and has been deploying troops in large numbers along India-China Border along the NE Region. China’s recent ties with Myanmar and Bangladesh only brings to light the loopholes that the National Diplomatic policy has. (The west, as a matter of fact, has often cited that India actually doesn’t have a Foreign Policy at all). China is about to encircle the entire NE region.

The solution lies in developing good ties with Myanmar and Bangladesh separately. Myanmar, on one hand, may provide for trade facilities for the NE, Bangladesh, on the other hand, may provide for a transit route which India has been requesting for 4 decades and Bangladesh has been denying the same.

The recent visit of Bangladeshi FM, Dipu Moni didn’t yield fruitful result for both the secular nations of India and Bangladesh. While the Awami League seeks cooperation from the ‘Big Brother’ in terms of Water sharing and Border issues, India hasn’t actually been able to concede enough to ‘win over’ the aspirations of Bangladeshi people.

If the Border dispute settlement bill, 2011 is ratified in the Parliament in the monsoon session itself, it may pave way for some hope when MMS shall meet Haseena in September as she visits India and may lead to Haseena providing a transit route for NE Goods to Rest of India, duty-free.

To contain China, India shall have to forget about the 1954 treaty where it officially ratified Tibet as an integral part of China and make a shift in its diplomatic policies crying out loud that Tibet, in line with Hong Kong, is an autonomous region instead.

The economic, social and political development of the NE Region is the only feasible way by which you may contain the current NE Fiasco.

India-Pak – LoC firings

There are different opinions forming on the LoC attacks Caesefire Violations.

While India on one hand has aggressively argued that the bullets were first fired by the Pakistani Troops, Pakistan denying the same tells the same Indian story with characters replaced.

Analysts opine that there is a possibility of Pakistan trying to bring to life the Kashmir issue which, on the Global Platform, was put to back burner.
Indian short-term loans of over $440 Billion are to mature in 2014 while it has limited reserves of International FX. Any provocation leading to war shall only be a disaster for Indian Economy at large which suffers from the Triple Trilemma of rising CAD (above 4.8% of GDP), Rupee depreciation (Thanks to import of Valuables) and sluggish economic growth (<5% in Q4 2012-13).

Pakistan knows that India cannot and will not indulge into war with its neighbour despite such provocations which on Indian Army’s part is no less than humiliation.

The reason for Pakistan’s attempt to bring in the Kashmir issue all of a sudden in the international arena again is backed by the backing out of the US troops from Afghanistan. Pakistan knows that US would try to push it to use more of its forces in the western and north western border to curb the Talibani Menace while at the same time Kashmir issue would instead provide it an excuse that would enable it to play the nuclear card along with Security balance at the same time.

In return, Sharif (only by name) would ask for grant of aids from US (Kerry, as we know is softer to Pakistan and hence, lobbying would work out here).

The solution to the problem is neither a dialogue nor a war. This instead needs to be solved using Nehru’s “Chanakyaneeti” approach which he widely used in 50s.

India needs to indulge more with Afghanistan especially in Infrastructure sector. This would provide India an excuse for safeguarding its interests in Central Asia. India needs to play the “Stability of Central Asia” card at the right time to divert the global attention back to Taliban and away from Kashmir.

Indian consular presence all along Pakistani western border with Afghanistan has been serving well to keep an eye on Pakistani defence from the west. This is why Pakistan’s ISI wants to crush the Consular presence through Bomb attacks, the recent attack being in Jalalabad.

To add to this, although denied by Indian agencies of any role in it, the Baluchistan separatism movement shall have to be revived in Pakistan so than Pakistan succumbs to its internal injuries by deploying additional troops along the eastern front with India to the Baluchistan Economic Zone. Certainly, Pakistan would not be able to redeploy troops from the western front owing to Generous US Aid and US Pressure.

Additionally, ties with Iran will have to be revived. Instead of being dictated by US, India must start developing friendly relations with Iran again. This would ensure that Pakistan is completely Land-locked with all its trade routes with the outside world blocked.

Indian Economy – 2013-14 Q1 analysis

The Indian growth story seems very much a history. It’s a pre 2007 folklore which has lost significance for a 2013 generation in the west.

While Rupee depreciates and makes anew low each day as if in a hurry to reach a century level before the petrol prices do so, the CAD, as per recent RBI Estimates, has risen above 5% of Nominal GDP. Inflation, on the other hand, continues to surge high since the Q1 End.

The Economic trilemma has factors associated with it which are much less talked about, especially in Public domain, so that the concerns are not amplified, triggering a wave of shock that may jolt the entire economy in one go.

It is alleged that the inflation is primarily due to the rising prices of imports. Analysts, on the other hand, are of the opinion that the rise in demand has been prominent in the Rural India. This rise is because of the Pumping of Money into the hands of Rural households through CSS like MGNREGS under MGNREGA, 2005. While inclusive development certainly aids economic development but the development must be backed by a proper Planning, proper infrastructure. The Money Supply has risen while the production remains the same leading to an increasing the Purchasing power Capacity of Households. On the other hand, steps should have been first made to provide incentives for productivity improvements, R&D works etc. so as to increase supply. The result is Demand Pull inflation.

CAD Solution as is being envisaged by MMS is more like “delaying the inevitable” solution. To curb the CAD menace, MMS is wishing to bring in FX via FDI route. FDI is temporary investment and is deemed to be taken away by the investors as they leave. It is like borrowing from your Landlord to pay your rents.

CAD problem doesn’t lie in the Valuables (Gold, Silver, Platinum etc.). The issue of CAD lies with Inflation itself. Inflation has prompted the savers to save through the medium of Gold only in lieu of a good return, precise higher than the inflation rate. This lure for gold has led to huge gold imports. Besides, inflation is leading to rise in prices of domestically manufactured goods making the imports cheaper which is aiding the CAD menace only. Thus, curbing inflation will very bring the CAD gap to less than 2.5% mark which is advocated to be satisfactory, globally.

Rupee depreciation has many a factors associated with it. The one not talked about is the issue of GAAR. Although GAAR has been put to backburner by MMS govt., the FX is not coming back unless you assure to the investors that their investments are safe. There always looms a fear of retrospective Tax collection which the Business Fraternity did witness via the Vodafone-Hutch deal case.

The solution lies in providing incentives to Exports. US and EU are our biggest trade partners and economies in both the regions are gaining strength. We further need to diversify our exports especially bring to our partnership zone, ASEAN, Latin America. The diversified chain of our export countries should address the weak export problems. Besides this, India shall have to raise issue of the subsidies provided by China and other Countries to their sector leading to dumping in Indian Markets in the Doha round through the G33 Forum.

Are we inching closer to another Cold war Era? An analysis….

The recent Syrian Crisis has only led to the RealPolitik Pundits to ponder over whether a new Cold war era is approaching fast. While US and the other Capitalist Partners of modern era have been trying hard to land themselves up in the ‘new lands’ (as was the trend in the Neocolonialism and Neoimperialism era), a strong resistance is being provided by the Modern Communist-‘Socialist’ partnership.

Inevitably, the thoughts that prevailed in the 50s and 60s that the problem of US and Europe is the problem of the world, is taking a new shape. Here a problem of Asia Minor is being deliberately made a ‘global problem’.

We do it for the sake of Humanity – Dear Obama-Kerry duo, get over it man! Where the hell was your human compassion when you were bombing and killing innocents in Vietnam? Where the hell were your fights for Human Rights when you were killing innocent men in Central Asia? What led you to topple the regime of Gaddafi in teh pretext of an illegal war that was only supposed to ‘provide safety to the Libyan people against attacks’?

The Communist-‘Socialist’ bloc is no less a culprit as well. What prompted the Eurasian nation to attack Georgia? Why did Soviet forces invade in Afghanistan in 1970s when actually the Taliban Problem was much more localised? What is fueling the Red nation to threaten a small Capitalist island nation over some areas of Ocean waters?

Although Lavrov’s intervention did postpone another ‘attack on Asia’, the future very much depends on how Geneva-II and the UN General Assembly meetings shape things up.

Some analysts view the repulsion caused by the very clever move by the Eurasian Nation ‘just in time’ against teh US a move which strategically replicates the cold war tactics of the 60s. While the two ‘blocs’ are only making a stand for themselves (as is being widely proclaimed by them at least), they are indirectly garnering support for their individual ‘ideologies’. As was the case in the 60s, the world is getting ripped into 2 zones – the one who favour the attack on Syria and the other who demand a diplomatic solution to the crisis instead.

While it is for the first time in the world community that some of the Capitalist countries ‘backed of’ from what at one time seemed implied. British Parliament’s posture and German ‘referendum’ supports this view. In light of this, it may be assumed that it is a micro-section of NATO which had and has been favouring an attack on Syria.

While some pundits blame the Oil Politics for this menace, the pro-capitalists are of teh view that the Chemical Weapons’ Shopping mall must be destroyed. India, very much speaking for NAM has affirmed that a diplomatic solution shall be better for this crisis and has thus indirectly ‘sided’ with the Communist-‘Socialist’ Bloc.

The world order is gradually changing. There seems to be a shift where a uni-pivotal zone is slowly turning into a multi-pivotal zone. In fact, the rising voices for a Nobel for Peace for Putin among the Global intellect class speaks a lot.

India shall need to amend its Policies in a direction that suits its long-term strategy. It shall have to make necessary changes in the strategic tools it possesses to make sure that it instead is one of the ‘big players’ of the game. The change shall better be reflected in a high degree of participation in talks and coordination in West and Central Asia. A mere presence would now be just not sufficient enough.

However good the Nehruvian Policies be from Indian context, they just don’t serve our purpose in the present game of REALPOLITIK.

Relevance of Democracy in Indian context…. A critical Analysis

It’s said that Democracy is, by far, the best ‘liberator’ of a Human being from the shackles of misrule or no rule explicitly.

On November 26, 1949 CE, some 284 men signed a ‘document’ which was to change the destiny of the nation forever and then on January 26, 1950 CE ‘imposed’ upon 510 million people a system of governance never seen by many. The question that readily comes up is whether an infant nation that had just ‘received’ the ‘priceless gift’ it waited for centuries, was ready for such a system of governance at all?

Taking the classic example of US as a democracy only which enacted teh first democratic constitution between 1787-89, it may be said that the process of attaining a democratic rule itself was a long process. For over a century, women and ‘Blacks’ (This writer criticizes Racism in all forms) did not have right to vote. It took more tahn 70 years to abolish Slavery. The southern states took a long time to catch up with the Northern states in terms on Industrialization.

India, on the other hand, gave the ‘statutory right’ to vote to all the citizens by empowering the Parliament to pass a legislation which explicitly allowed so and the ‘interim’ Parliament did so by passing the RPA, 1950. This allowed every Indian to vote in the General Elections and in the Provincial elections as they are held irrespective of Caste, Gender, Religion, Place of birth.

Literacy rate in India in 1950s was close to 16% only. (This means that only 16% Indians could read and write in at least one language) What could be expected from the people who didn’t even have the ability to decide for their future especially when the whole process of elections and democracy was as new as independence itself.

A section of people are of the view that despite 63 years of Democratic rule’s establishment, not much of a change is seen at the round level. A rag-picker was and is a rag-picker (The writer respects each and every profession and occupation of a human being if the same is legal).

Further, it is advocated that Democracy is rather a point of discussion for Bureaucracy and Political Class. It is further said that despite the problems of slow development, the issue of ‘listening’ to every individual, the issue of every vote counts, the issue of rich-poor divide, the issue of corruption, the issue of misrule, the issue of mal-governance, the issue of Police State, the issue of communal riots, the issue of pseudo-secularism, the issue of criminalisation of politics, the issue of rising crime, the issue of falling economy, the issue of deteriorating foreign relations, the issue of secession and insurgency, the issue of terrorism, the issue of social problems, the issue of population explosion, the issue of maternal and infant mortality, the issue of malnutrition, the issue of LWE, democracy allows for the right to freedom of speech and expression as a Fundamental right which is widely enjoyed by teh media section cherishing Democracy.

On the other hand, Democracy allows not only for the Fundamental Rights but also for an accountable government. We get to choose the people who would be representing us whenever a matter comes up for legislation, opinion or resolution. The whole world shall therefore listen our voice instead, through indirectly.

Democracy allows for a dignified life and immunity against the arbitrary action of state. It makes sure that the very will of the people is taken care of. It makes sure that it is the people who are supreme in all respect. It makes sure that it is teh people’s say when it comes to deciding the future of this nation.

Some advocate that Communism (perhaps Socialism in its crudest form) is a good option for India instead. They compare the 200 year old history of US with 60 years old history of China. They generally fall for the rapid development in China especially in terms of HDI and Industrialization.

The writer himself is lured by Communism but prefers Democracy for India in all respect. Howsoever slow it be, howsoever bad it be, it is Democracy which allows this writer to express his views without fear or favour.

Rehabilitation of Sex workers – An Opinion

It is learnt that for a conservative country like India, the very mention of “Sex workers” in a public forum would amount to ‘indecency’ ‘immorality’ and may even be an ‘unethical’ act. I thought to break this stigma that prevails and therefore decided to pour down my opinion and/or thoughts on the issue of Rehabilitation of Sex workers.

India is a home to one of the largest population of Sex Workers in South Asia. Although, many of us are familiar with their being in metropolitan cities, small hubs lie in almost every state of the country.

Who are these women who sell their body everyday to ‘earn’ their living? They are generally widows of poor husbands who died with heavy burden of debt. They are the natives of countries like Bangladesh, Nepal who were trafficked to India by Human-traffickers. They are the daughters of poor families who are often sold in return for some money. They are those women who are married off at an early stage to far-off places by poor families and later are dumbed by the in-laws after getting less amount of dowry. They are the street girls who are often picked up by pimps at an early age. They are the victims of Family rivalry when the relatives themselves sell off the girl for some money. They are countless women and girls who have been thrown into this dirty profession without their will.

So what, Why should I care? I care because I am part of a society which has divided itself into many segments. The people in this society have long forgotten that there exists a ‘red light area’ in their region as well and that everyday women are thrown into that business against their will. I care because I just can’t walk with my head held upright thereby disallowing me to see how my society looks to the left or to the right. I can’t refrain myself from at least talking about it even if I, on my own, am just not powerful enough to change this forever. Therefore shying away is just not an option.

O.K. Mr. Caring man, What are their problems? One of the worst problem is they undergoing the trauma of Mental torture every second. A human being, made to do a thing against his will, suffers from such a stress that often his mental balance crumbles under such load. Their future is insecure. As they attain certain age, their ‘business’ ‘weakens’ up. This further leads to borrowing from Money lenders, harassment from landlords etc. Often under such a pressure they are compelled to throw their daughters into this profession as well after getting caught in this Vicious Cycle. They are often more prone to getting infected by AIDS owing to improper or no knowledge about contraceptives. They often face the issue of unwanted pregnancies are often undergo unsafe abortions which are a threat to their life indeed. A large part of their ‘income’ is to be shared with the Brothel owner and the pimp(s) which leaves almost nothing left with them for their future as savings.

So Mr. Socialist, What should be done? Sections under IPC which criminalises offences like forcing a woman to prostitution, be amended for a stricter punishment. IPC Sections should further be amended to check on the rising rates of Human-Trafficking. They should have a statutory protection which ensures weekly off, medical care, leaves etc. and all the facilities that an ordinary employee in any organisation in India enjoys. Their future may be secured by linking them directly with banks and Micro-banks under Financial Inclusion programme. They should be linked to NRLM (formerly SGSY) and be encouraged to form among themselves SHGs to help themselves out and empower themselves. They should be allowed to work and take a share in Angadwadi and MDM schemes thereby guaranteeing income to them. The initiative of “NO CONDOM, NO SEX” is a good initiative taken by the legal class of the country which should solve the health issue of these women. Linking tehse women to the nearest PHCs which allows for safe abortions and thereby allowing them to get benefits under JSY and JSSY. Need to build awareness among teh masses which should not neglect them as ‘strangers’ to ‘their society’. Need to impart Sex Education in Children.
